The Fraser Institute publishes an annual list of the number of patients waiting for treatment after having had their first meeting with a specialist. The numbers for Alberta are:

Local Options
The provincial government continues to promise changes to Ministry of Health policy which will allow private delivery of health care. So far there have been few changes.
Timely Medical Alternatives is able to access private diagnostic imaging (MRI’s and CT scans) in both Calgary and Edmonton.
B.C. Options
B.C.’s private healthcare system is thriving. Because of this, we bring hundreds of Alberta residents out here every year for ambulatory surgery. For more serious surgeries, not offered in the private system, we send down to bordering states in the U.S.
U.S. Options
Timely Medical Alternatives has been able to negotiate exceptional discounts for our clients at 22 U.S. hospitals in 13 states. In some cases, the client has saved over 80% off of the U.S. average price for that particular procedure. One hospital that we work with in Montana is a popular choice among Albertans. However, during the winter months, most Albertans prefer to go to our facility in Phoenix.
